        Arizona Deaf Community Needs - ADCN         printer friendly Printer Friendly

Welcome! Arizona Deaf Community Needs. We realized that we need something that matched to our community service. We now have a couple of events during the year. Arizona Deaf Community Needs (ADCN) is under Arizona Association of the Deaf. ADCN provided free food, clothes, and furniture to Deaf Low Income Families, Deaf Homeless, and any Deaf people in needs of our help. We enjoy doing the hardworking for our deaf community in needs. That's how Arizona Deaf Community Needs came up with the name.

We hosted our THIRD annual holiday party on December 25, 2009 for our dearest families, senior citizens, and homeless people who are all deaf, as well nowhere to go to celebrate this wonderful holiday as a big happy family. Last year we have 87 people including 14 children and 8 deaf homeless, attending and they enjoyed the party tremendously. We have attached a picture for you to see it, however there are more on requested. They are looking forward for us to host again for 2010.

We have several deaf homeless attending. They all received gift certificates for food and restaurants, along with some clothes and small items plus a lot of food was provided.

Here are examples of stories from last year;

  1. A deaf homeless lady was so touched when we gave her some clothes and food. She cried and told us that she felt as if there is no one there to help her. But, we are here for her. We continued helping her until she got a place in Apache Junction last June 2009. So far, she is doing much better.

  2. We have several deaf senior citizens attending. They were enjoying so much with us. They thanked us all for being there with them and help them forget the lonely and sad day.

  3. We have 14 children playing the white elephant games. We have 14 chairs sit back and forth where kids can sit and walk around then sit when light is on. But, they ran around the chairs and sit. We did it for three times and noticed that kids sit on same chairs! We told them no cheat! They laughed and ran around and sit different chairs. They went wild for hours. We all enjoyed their antic of children's action. Parents thanked us for burn their energy up.
We have a lot of left over so we asked all people to take whatever they want and bring home. There were no small amounts or limit amount to take but to take much as they want to. Surprise, all food ran our except for Yams.

They all took their pictures and video tape with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. They all got gifts and gift certificates. We played some fun games and won some more gift certificates. We spent all day (from 8 am to 8 pm) together. It was our third annual holiday together. We are hoping to have it again this coming December 25, 2010.

For the details of this event such as the location and time is on our website, www.azadinc.org. We are committed to host this event.
